Valerian Root is a calming and relaxing herb, well known for its distinct aroma, which only develops after the roots are dried. Valerian is often used in bedtime formulas and sleep pillows.
To prepare as a tea, pour 8 oz. boiling water over 1 tsp. of herb. Cover and steep 3-5 minutes, strain and serve immediately.
- Caution is advised during use of barbiturates, benzodiazepines, and other sedative drugs, as valerian has been speculated to potentiate the effects of some sedatives.
